March update…

We are marching in the light of God 🙂

.
Hello lovelies!

.
God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good!

.
Quick update from us…

.
Yes, we are still very much enjoying married life – and no, we still aren’t planning on having children any time soon!

.
We’re almost finished at Redcliffe now! I’ve finished my final academic assignment and just have the dissertation to go, and Ben’s got one more essay plus dissertation to finish. We are preparing for our 4-6 week placement in Central Asia next month, and are having two Russian lessons a week. We’d appreciate your prayers for the trip! When we return we have to write 4,000-word reports on the organisation and the culture etc, but (although this is validated and goes towards the degree) at least in my mind it doesn’t really count as a hefty academic assignment since it is more about our thoughts and our experiences than analysing research done by long-named theology scholars…

.
To earn some money to put towards the placement trip I’ve been selling paintings and cards once again, and this has been fairly successful so far – I have an exhibition coming up, which I’m excited about, and have had two paintings commissioned, and have had a local cafe interested in displaying / exhibiting seven or eight of my canvasses! Good fun.

.
Regarding post-Redcliffe life, we’ve been in touch with a few Christian mission organisations and especially have been having ongoing discussions with Interserve regarding long-term cross-cultural work after college.
Several promising options have come up, and we’ve been prayerfully pondering those. We are also aware that we’re going to need to save/raise what seems to us an extortionate amount of money to cover all the living costs for when we’re ‘out there’, and are thus preparing to stay in the UK for 1-5 years to work / save / fundraise etc prior to leaving.

.
We would appreciate your prayers for this interim time, especially at the moment as we decide what sort of jobs to apply for. As for me, I am prayerfully pondering whether to pursue church youth work jobs, which would enthuse and excite me and which I have experience in (and of course the applied theology would be very obviously and directly relevant) – but which would mean both leaving Gloucester and of course leaving our current church (which we’d be very sad to do) – OR to go for a Gloucester based job that would probably end up meaning working in a cafe or as a receptionist or something, which wouldn’t excite me anywhere near as much as church youth work BUT we would be able to stay here and to commit some of our free time to fundraising for the future, as well as being able to more easily stay in touch with our Gloucester friends. Ben doesn’t yet know what he’d like to do, but is thinking and praying about it, and we don’t really have to start applying for jobs until June – so we’ve got time. Lots of prayerful pondering going on. We’d love it if you join us in praying for God’s guidance in this area and for His hand to be on the decisions that we make.

.

In other news… We’re still settling into life in the new college building, and it’s beginning to feel a little more normal now, getting used to space-crises in lectures and the like! We’re still Tango-ing; Ben’s also been composing music on a mechanical music-machine thing with lots of buttons, that plugs into his laptop; I’ve been thoroughly enjoying playing the harp and find it very relaxing and refreshing… And there are SIX important weddings this year, of people we know well and love a lot – a baffling year full of change for so many of the important people in our lives! Unfortunately two of the weddings are on the same day (and opposite ends of the country), so we won’t quite make it to all six!

.
Haha, I hope you feel well and truly updated on what’s going on in our lives 😉 Please do keep in touch – and God bless!
.

P.S. Happy-Almost-Easter! Enjoy eating as much chocolate as you can handle, and may God speak into your lives as you remember the real meaning of Easter 🙂
